1990 mare

"Tootsie" made her debut a little early and not ready for the cold weather. She had very little haircoat, and required a ski sweater for the first few days. Her dam also had very little milk, and no motherly instinct, and would not watch where she was stepping. Tootsie had legs as fine as fawn legs, the smallest cannon bones we'd ever encountered. With milk drying up, and baby getting hungrier, a decision had to be made. Toosie was weaned from her mom (who could have cared less), and we fed her by bucket and nurse mare (other Appaloosa mare had an older filly on her at the time and didn't mind the occassional snack from the youngest). Needless to say, Tootsie was a people horse...more like a dog-horse. Her greatest qualities have been to give her all for her people.

At 2 yrs.old, we broke her to drive in 3 days, and qualified her for Worlds on the 4th day. A superb driving horse for all around fun (sleigh/buckboard), she teamed up with Grant Gibbs to become Res. World Champion Junior Trail Horse.
Tootsie was bred 3 times to Zippo Scotch Bar, to produce Zippoloosa, Western Treasure, and one I forgot. She was bred to Classic Black and produced the colored colt Strike The Pose, who was 5th at the 1999 Worlds in Hunter In Hand. Strike continues to show in youth classes with a new owner.
Tootsie is very typical of most of our Dreamfinder bred horses, very personable, and eager to please. In 1998, I needed a choreograph horse for our Freestyle Reining program. The horses I was to use were all on the show circuit in Nebraska, so I was near horse-less. Toostie was drafted into the roll, even though she had never been taught a lead change, not was she really suitable for reining (rough stops). However, she did her best. By the time I'd figured out the elaborate Star Trek themed 5 horse drill-team entry, she'd learned to be a pretty good reining horse! She could do the same 2 count change of lead required for the star horse in the real version, Pleasant Dreams. She still stops hard, but she is definately one of the BHR bred horses that epitomizes good temperment.

Her 2001 filly is by The Visionary, a beautiful headed filly named Visionary's Dream. (sold)
